Ingredients:

  • 1 Large Egg
  • 3 tbsp Sweetened condensed milk (if using unsweetened condensed milk, add 25g sugar)
  • 1 tsp Yeast
  • 0.6 cup Milk
  • 2 cups Bread flour or wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter (plus additional for greasing and brushing)
  • Egg wash (1 beaten egg for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, sweetened condensed milk (or sugar with unsweetened condensed milk), yeast, and milk. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Add the bread flour or wheat flour and salt to the wet ingredients. Combine until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough by hand until it forms a smooth ball. Allow the dough to rest for 20 minutes.
  4. After resting, add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the dough. Knead the butter into the dough until well incorporated. The dough might initially be sticky, but continue kneading until it becomes smooth.
  5. Shape the dough into a round ball, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, deflate the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a round ball. Allow the portions to rest for 15 minutes, covered.
  7. Take one portion at a time, deflate, press down, and roll out into a long strip. Shape the dough into a rectangle and roll it up, starting from one end to form a long strip.
  8. Place the rolled dough portions into a greased baking dish (approximately 20x20cm/8”x8′). Repeat with all portions.
  9. Cover the dish and let the rolls rise for about 50 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven. Once the rolls have risen, brush the surface with egg wash.
  11. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven at 340°F/170°C for approximately 20 minutes until they turn golden brown.

Enjoy these delightful sweet milk bread rolls!
