Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lbs beef sirloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Season the beef tips with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef tips and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Return the beef tips to the skillet and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened and the beef is cooked through.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, and serve hot.
Recipe Tips and Variations:
- Add a splash of balsamic vinegar or soy sauce for extra flavor.
- Incorporate carrots, celery, or bell peppers for additional color and texture.
- For a thicker gravy, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add it during the last few minutes of cooking.
