Grandmother’s Fresh Peach Cobbler

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 5-6 fresh peaches, sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8-1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare Baking Dish:
    • Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  3. Make Batter:
    • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and milk.
    • Optional: Add 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of salt to the dry ingredients.
  4. Layer Ingredients:
    • Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking pan.
    • Arrange the sliced peaches on top of the batter.
    • Sprinkle 3/4 cup sugar evenly over the peaches.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven until the batter rises to the top and forms a nice brown crust, about 20-30 minutes.
  6. Serve:
    • Allow the peach cobbler to cool slightly before serving.
    • Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes:

  • Adjust the salt to your taste. Start with 1/8 teaspoon and add more if needed.
