Mom’s Famous Cream Puffs

Ingredients:

For the Cream Puffs:

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs

For Mom’s Famous Filling:

  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding
  • 1/3 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, bring butter, water, and vanilla to a boil. Add flour and stir constantly until it forms a ball and leaves the side of the pot. Remove and cool.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until smooth.
  4. Drop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared cookie sheets, leaving space between each. You should get about 8 large cream puffs.
  5. Bake for approximately 40 minutes or until the cream puffs are golden brown.
  6. Once out of the oven, you can poke each cream puff with a toothpick and return them to the turned-off oven with the door cracked to prevent deflating. Allow them to cool.
  7. For Mom’s Famous Filling, beat heavy cream, instant vanilla pudding, and milk in a mixer until thick.
  8. Slice each cream puff in half and pipe or scoop in the Mom’s Famous Filling.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar or pour melted chocolate over the top.
  10. Serve and enjoy these delightful cream puffs!
