Ingredients:
- For the Devil’s Food Cake:
- 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened non-alkalized cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs plus 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup hot brewed coffee
- For the Chocolate Frosting:
- 16 oz high-quality semi-sweet chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 3 1/2 tbsp light corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 16 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/8 tsp fine sea salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F, prepare pans.
- Sift dry ingredients; set aside.
- Cream butter and sugars, then add eggs and vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and sour cream mixture.
- Add hot coffee, mix.
- Divide batter into pans, bake for 38-45 mins.
- Cool in pans, then on a rack.
