Ingredients:
- 4 medium Russet potatoes
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon pepper
- ⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon paprika
- 4 to 6 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Wash and dry the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
Slicing the Potatoes:
- Place a potato on a cutting board and make vertical slices across the width of the potato, being careful not to cut all the way through. Aim to slice no more than halfway down the potato. You can also slice the potatoes at angles to achieve a crispier texture.
Seasoning:
- In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until well combined.
Coating with Olive Oil:
- Lightly spritz each potato with olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Seasoning the Potatoes:
- Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the potatoes, making sure to coat each slice.
Baking:
- Place the seasoned potatoes on a parchment-lined baking tray, spacing them apart to allow for even cooking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.
Serving:
- Once baked, remove the potatoes from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
- Serve the Hasselback-style sliced baked potatoes hot as a delicious side dish alongside your favorite meat entrée.
Notes:
- Feel free to customize the seasoning to suit your taste preferences by adjusting the amounts of salt, pepper, and spices used.
- Garnish with fresh herbs such as chopped parsley or chives for an extra burst of flavor and visual appeal.
- These potatoes are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven but can be reheated in the microwave or oven if necessary
