Ingredients:
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water (105°F-115°F)
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
For the cinnamon honey butter:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 tablespoon confectioners sugar
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the yeast and warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, until the yeast is foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine the milk, buttermilk, softened butter, granulated sugar, salt, and 1 cup of flour. Beat on high with a mixer until combined well and smooth.
- Add the egg and beat until well incorporated.
- Slowly add the remaining flour a little at a time until the dough comes cleanly away from the mixer.
- Flour the dough slightly and turn it into a ball in a greased large bowl. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out until it is 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 12 even rectangular shapes.
- Fold the ends of each rectangle under to form a roll shape. Place the rolls on a parchment paper or silicone mat lined baking sheet.
- Cover the rolls and let them rise in a warm place for 20 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter, if desired.
- In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for the cinnamon honey butter. Mix until well combined.
- Serve the warm rolls with the cinnamon honey butter.
Enjoy!
Tips:
- For softer rolls, let them rise for a second time after shaping them into rolls.
- To make the cinnamon honey butter ahead of time, simply combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before serving.
- These rolls are also delicious served with a side of honey butter or maple syrup
