Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and butter. Stir to incorporate.
  2. Place over medium heat and stir continuously as the mixture warms.
  3. Bring the mixture to a full boil, then stop stirring.
  4. Let the mixture boil undisturbed for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove pan from heat.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract and chocolate chips until smooth and melted.
  7. Fold in chopped nuts if using.
  8. Pour fudge into a greased or lined 8×8-inch pan and spread evenly.
  9. Cool at room temperature until fully firm.
  10. Slice into squares once set.

Notes

  • Add crushed peppermint or sprinkles on top before the fudge sets for a festive holiday finish.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
