Ingredients

  • 1 pound hamburger meat
  • 1 head cabbage, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (Rotel recommended)
  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 package Fiesta Ranch powder
  • 2 cups beef broth

Equipment

  • crockpot or slow cooker
  • Large skillet
  • chopping board and sharp knife
  • wooden spoon
  • ladle

Method

  1. Pour 2 cups of beef broth into the bottom of your crockpot. Add the chopped cabbage, spreading it evenly.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the hamburger meat with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain excess grease.
  3. Transfer the cooked beef mixture into the crockpot. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, cumin, and Fiesta Ranch powder. Stir gently to combine, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours until flavors meld and cabbage is tender.

Notes

Best served hot with crusty bread. Adjust seasoning at the end of cooking since the flavors intensify. Double the recipe if cooking for a crowd—it disappears fast!
