Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion over medium heat until beef is fully cooked and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk cream of mushroom soup with milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Stir beef mixture into the soup mixture, then spread evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the beef layer.
  6. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, mix garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika into the beef mixture.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day, as the flavors meld together.
  • Double cheese lovers can add one layer in the middle and one on top.
