- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
 - In a medium bowl, whisk eggs until frothy.
 - Add sugar, softened butter, and flour. Beat until smooth.
 - Stir in buttermilk, lemon juice, vanilla, and nutmeg. Mix until creamy.
 - Pour filling into the unbaked crust.
 - Bake 40–60 minutes until the center is firm and golden.
 - Let cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
 
Notes
- The pie can be served warm, but cooling allows the custard to set properly.
 - Using freshly grated nutmeg enhances the flavor.
 - For best results, use full-fat buttermilk.
