Ingredients

  • 2 apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 8 pieces caramel candy
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • cinnamon sugar (optional)

Equipment

  • medium skillet
  • Mixing spoon or spatula
  • rolling pin or tortilla press
  • medium baking dish
  • Pastry brush
  • cooking spray

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a medium baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat. Add chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and caramelized, about 5 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  3. Separate the biscuit dough and flatten each piece with your fingers or a rolling pin until thin and round.
  4. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of apple filling onto each dough round and top with one caramel candy.
  5. Gather edges of dough around filling and pinch tightly to seal. Roll into smooth balls.
  6. Arrange seam side down in the greased dish. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce or serve with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Avoid overstuffing to keep the filling from leaking out during baking.
  • You can use crescent roll dough instead of biscuit dough for a flakier texture.
  • Best served warm for that perfect gooey caramel center.
