Ingredients

  • 4 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 1 sleeve Ritz crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • large mixing bowl
  • medium bowl for topping
  • wooden spoon or spatula
  • oven

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, almonds, bacon, and hot sauce. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Spread the chicken mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix crushed Ritz crackers with melted butter until coated. Sprinkle evenly over casserole.
  5. Place casserole uncovered in oven and bake 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with extra green onions if desired.

Notes

Double the recipe if serving a crowd—it’s always the first dish to disappear. For extra cheesiness, sprinkle an additional half-cup of cheddar on top before adding the Ritz crackers. Leftovers taste even better the next day as flavors deepen.
