Ingredients
  

  • 24 cookies Oreo cookies, roughly chopped
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 3/4 cups cold milk
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup whipped topping, thawed
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread chopped Oreo cookies evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk instant chocolate pudding mix with cold milk until smooth and slightly thickened. Pour evenly over Oreos.
  4. Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the pudding layer. Do not stir.
  5. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much surface as possible.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until the top is set and the edges are bubbling.
  7. Cool slightly, then spread whipped topping over the top. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips if desired. Serve warm or chilled.

Notes

  • This dessert thickens further as it cools
  • For cleaner slices, allow to cool longer before serving
  • Store whipped topping separately if preparing ahead
