Ingredients

  • 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • large skillet (nonstick or cast iron works best)
  • wooden spoon or spatula
  • knife & cutting board

Method

  1. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add the sweet potatoes, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 15 minutes, stirring often until fork-tender.
  2. Push the sweet potatoes to the edges of the skillet. Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons butter in the center. Stir in the brown sugar until dissolved into a glaze.
  3. Toss the potatoes gently in the glaze until evenly coated.
  4. Lower the heat and let simmer for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle cinnamon over the potatoes and stir to combine.
  5. Transfer to a serving dish, drizzle with extra sauce, and serve warm.

Notes

🍴 Best served warm as a holiday or weeknight side.
🧈 For extra richness, add 1 tablespoon heavy cream to the glaze.
🥄 Leftovers make a sweet topping for oatmeal or pancakes!
