Ingredients

  • 3–4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup shredded Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • optional chopped green onions, for garnish
  • optional paprika, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large oven-safe skillet
  • Tongs
  • measuring cups and spoons
  • knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an oven-safe skillet if needed.
  2. Rub chicken breasts with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper. Heat skillet over medium-high heat and sear chicken for about 5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in chicken broth, scraping the pan to release browned bits. Reduce heat and stir in sour cream until smooth.
  4. Top each chicken breast with shredded Jack cheese. Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and chicken reaches 165°F.
  5. Remove from oven and garnish with chopped green onions and paprika. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use an instant-read thermometer; chicken is done at 165°F
  • For extra sauce, double the broth and sour cream
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor
  • Great option for meal prep lunches
