Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature, plus 2 tablespoons melted
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups pecans, coarsely chopped
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line the bottom and sides of a 9×13-inch baking pan with foil.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat 1 stick of butter at room temperature, brown sugar, flour, and salt until coarse crumbs form. Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan.
- Bake the crust until browned, for about 26-31 minutes. Let it cool for about 11 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, granulated sugar, and melted butter until well blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and 1 1/2 cups of pecans.
- Spread the mixture evenly over the crust.
- Bake until set, for about 25 to 30 minutes.
- Cool completely in the pan before lifting (use the foil to lift).
- Cut into 32 bars (8 rows by 4 rows).
