  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the Mostaccioli according to the package instructions until al dente.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until tender.
  4. Add ground beef or Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, then drain excess fat.

  6. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and return it to the pot. Add the meat sauce, half of the mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Toss until well combined.

  8. Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired, for a pop of color and flavor.
