Ingredients
For the Batter:
- 6 eggs
- 150 g (⅔ cup) sugar
- 50 g (½ cup) all-purpose flour
- 15 g (2 tbsp) cornstarch
- 80 ml (⅓ cup) vegetable oil
- 15 g (2 tbsp) cocoa powder
For the Cream:
- 250 g (1 cup) hazelnut cream
- 200 g (⅔ cup) melted dark chocolate
Method
- Preheat your oven to 190°C/375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Separate egg yolks from the whites.
- In a blender, beat the egg yolks with sugar and vegetable oil until the mixture becomes creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the yolk mixture.
- Sift flour into the batter and fold it in as well.
- Divide the batter into two equal portions. Mix cocoa powder into one portion and cornstarch into the other.
- Pour the white batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake for 5 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, then pour the chocolate batter over the baked white layer, spreading evenly. Bake for an additional 8 minutes.
- Allow the baked roll to cool down. Gently peel back the parchment.
- Spread hazelnut cream evenly over the cake base. Roll the cake tightly and place it in the refrigerator to set.
- Once set, carefully slice the roll. Dip each slice into melted dark chocolate, covering one side.
