Lazy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Ingredients:

  • 15.25 ounce box yellow cake mix
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 5 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. I recommend using the kind that includes flour for easier removal.
  3. In a bowl, combine the dry cake mix with the melted butter and beaten eggs. It’s easier if you have an electric or stand mixer because the batter will be very thick.
  4. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to distribute them evenly throughout the batter.
  5. Spread the thick batter into the greased baking dish. A handy trick is to spray your hand with some nonstick cooking spray and then use your hand to spread the batter since it can be quite thick.
  6. Once the batter is evenly spread out in the baking dish, place it in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20-25 minutes.
  7. While baking, the cookie bars will puff up and turn a lovely golden brown around the edges when they are done.
  8. Allow the bars to cool before cutting and serving.
